Originally designed by Arata Isozaki Atelier, this refurbishment transformed the building into a children’s library, a core space for promoting reading within the city’s library network. The design honors the building’s architectural heritage by retaining and celebrating its distinctive precast concrete vault ceiling. Refurbishment focused on infusing a new program that coexists with the building’s historical and architectural character.

The new library serves as a school library support center and a collaborative space, fostering engagement between children and books. Each floor offers specific functions with accessible, comfortable reading areas, incorporating the latest seismic standards. With a "Global Maps and Picture Books" corner and a focus on local authors, the library encourages reading habits and global awareness in young readers.
