West Bay Water Transport Terminal
Doha, QATAR
The project involved designing a new Ferry Terminal at Doha's West Bay, aimed at bolstering transportation infrastructure for the 2022 Qatar World Cup. Inspired by Qatar's maritime heritage and the elegant curvature of traditional Dhows, the design began with a sphere, then sliced to form a floating arc. The roof, inclined toward the sea, shelters the terminal below with a self-supporting, intricately crafted concrete shell. The result is a spacious, column-free environment, providing the fluidity and flexibility essential for a world-class transportation hub.
このプロジェクトは、2022 年カタールワールドカップに向け、水／陸交通の結節点として、ドーハのウェストベイに新しいフェリーターミナルおよびバスターミナルを作ることを目的としている。デザインは、カタールの伝統的な帆船の優雅な曲線に触発され、傾斜して地中に沈む円筒形を切り取ったアーチ形を基本にしている。屋根は海に向かって大きく開いており、薄いコンクリートシェルで構成される。その結果、柱のない広々とした空間が生まれ、世界クラスの交通ハブに必要な流動性と柔軟性が提供されている。
